Rating Engine
Insite’s rating system is a multi-purpose real-time rating system for business transactions. It is most useful for usage transactions, such as telephone calls, wireless calls, IP usage transaction, utilities transactions (water, gas, electricity), etc.
Insite provides real-time response to customer service representative (CSR) requests for information while separate processing threads handle both batch and real-time flows of incoming transactions. This means a CSR can look up a rate quote, retrieve detailed rating information on a specific transaction and investigate a transaction's rating process without ever interrupting production processing.
Insite supports diverse rating methods which include, but are not limited to, flat rate, time of day, day of week, distance based, duration based, tier/volume, tapered, transition, mobile-to-mobile, zone based, called number pricing and user defined variable controlled. Each of these rate plans are based on user-defined units of measure which enable you to rate many different types of events, including, but not limited to, local and long distance calling, wireless calling, data transmissions, fax store-and-forward, and Internet transactions.
Insite processes real-time transaction flows in concert with batches of transactions. The results are posted to the accounts allowing for near-real-time views of rated transactions via Insite as well as displayed on the web for the consumer.
The unit of measure used in Insite rating is user-defined. Therefore, your charge for a service transaction appears in a service-appropriate unit. For example, phone calls will probably be charged by the duration of the call. For ISP's, you might instead charge by data usage. For Application Service Providers, the units of measure may relate to the functions performed for the customer.
